Memba' this gem of a show in the early 90's? Randomly came across a contest mother nature network is hosting and I went back in time about 20 years.

Random facts about Captain Planet.

  • Captain Planet was the world's first Eco Hero!!
  • Brand refused to license singe use items like paper plates or other disposables and requires use of recycled materials wherever possible. Most products also included an "eco-tip" informing kids of additional ways they can help protect the environment.
  • Created in 1989 by Ted Turner with the hope of entertaining and inspiring the youth.
  • Worked with the US Fish and Wildlife Agency to host an educational expo.
  • Worked with the EPA on their "Greenlights" program to promote energy efficiency
  • Recognized by the US. Environmental Protection agency to increase awareness for protecting our wetlands
